On the last 25th September, the responsible team for the construction of the high resolution spectrograph ESPRESSO, leaded in Portugal by the Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA), took a giant step, by successfully tested one of the key components of this instrument, that is being installed in the "Very Large Telescope" (VLT), at ESO.

 

Its construction counted with the support of the Portuguese industry, namely with the precision mechanics services of Ernesto São Simão Lda..
